Apply for a contract to produce the Great Notley Times magazine

Great Notley Parish Council is seeking quotations for a contract for the provision of the Great Notley Times magazine.

The magazine is an A5 publication produced by the Parish Council and distributed to 3000 homes to provide information to all residents in relation to Parish Council issues plus information from community groups and other public sector organisations.  Copies of the magazine can be viewed on this website.

The Parish Council would wish you to initially review the magazine with reference to a recent residents’ survey and suggest any amendments or innovative ideas in relation to content and/or design so that the current publication remains relevant and useful for residents.

Thereafter the Parish Council would wish to you provide the magazine 3 times a year (February, June and October).  It should be noted that you would not be required to print or distribute the magazine but to design and compile it for printing and subsequent delivery.

The specification includes 

  • All liaison with contributors to obtain the content for the magazine
  • All liaison with prospective and existing advertisers
  • Preparation of some articles in collaboration with the Parish Council
  • Designing and setting up the magazine
  • All liaison with the printing company
  • Provision of a PDF copy for publication on the Parish Council website
  • Liaising with Royal Mail to arrange distribution
  • Ensuring that copies of the magazine are sent to contributors and advertisers and some third parties who do not reside in the Parish and to file a copy with the British Library

Expected Requirements 

  • Previous experience in the production of a publication
  • To be computer literate and have the equipment and software to set up the publication (e.g. Publisher).

The contract will be for an initial one-year period and payment will be made upon production of invoices.
