A survey monkey survey was set up to obtain the views of all the residents of Petworth Close and the residents of Grantham Avenue that live adjacent to the 'hammerhead' turns near the path leading to the underpass as a result of complaints about parking by those using the Country Park. The aim was to test the extent of the concerns and to see what actions would be acceptable to the residents. The results can be seen below -
Petworth Close
A letter including the link to the survey was sent to all 39 houses in Petworth Close and 17 responses were received.
The answers to the questions were as follows
Do you consider there to be a parking problem in your road?
Yes - 14
No - 3
Are you in favour of yellow lines being installed on your road?
Yes - 10
No - 7
Would you be willing to pay for a residents parking area in your road?
Yes - 6
No - 11
It is quite clear that there is no wish to have a paid for residents parking scheme as expressed by the majority of those who responded. In relation to yellow lines the North Essex Parking Partnership made it very clear to the Parish Council that any proposed scheme must have the response of the vast majority of residents and although more resident than not would like yellow lines there does not appear to be a sufficient majority to justify that outcome. Thus the Parish Council has decided to take no further action in relation to Petworth Close
Grantham Avenue
The letter and survey link was sent to 20 houses adjacent to the footpath leading to the Country Park but only 7 responses were received. The outcomes were as follows -
Do you consider there to be a parking problem in your road?
Yes - 7
No - 0
Are you in favour of yellow lines being installed on your road?
Yes - 0
No - 7
Would you be willing to pay for a residents parking area in your road?
Yes - 7
No - 0
It is therefore quite clear that there is no appetite for yellow lines. However although all those that responded were in favour of a paid for residents parking scheme the Parish Council considered the response to be too low to justify any application to the North Essex Parking Partnership at this point in time.
In the meantime residents can find answers to questions about parking issues in the Residents' Guide to Parking Problems
